Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is the 2013 biopic about the life of former South African president Nelson Mandela, who earlier passed away this year on the 5th of December 2013. The trailer details what the film will deal with in how Mandela rose up to challenge the apartheid that was dividing South Africa, also dealing with his 27 year prison stay and his family. The trailer also focuses on Nelson Mandela himself, played by Idris Elba, he steal every scene with a very convincing portrayal of Mandela, layered with a thick South African accent that eerily sounds like Nelson Mandela himself. The film will be released in the UK on January the 3rd 2014.

A tribute to Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

On the 5th of December 2013, the world lost one of it’s greatest revolutionaries in Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela… He spent a great time of his life in prison, but would die for his ideals, and was therefore instrumental in dismantling the apartheid that separated the coloured people from the white people in South Africa. He went on to become the president of South Africa in 1994 before stepping down in 1999. He was a guiding light in the world but lucky for us he spread enough light to last us a lifetime… RIP Mr. Mandela

This past Saturday, American actor Paul Walker, remembered for portraying street racer Brian O’Connor in The Fast and the Furious film series, lost his life in a car crash. His death shook the world of Hollywood and served a costly reminder of how short life really is. A tribute video was made by his co-stars and Universal (the distributors of the Fast and the Furious film series) highlighting his best moments from the 6 of the 7 films he appeared in. Rest In Peace Paul.

I know I’m about 12 years too late but I recently watched Donnie Darko. I was pleasantly surprised how dark and challenging it is to typical Hollywood films that are rolled out. It leaves you guessing as to what is happening within the movie and what a giant rabbit is doing there… yes, a giant rabbit! Released in 2001 the film tells the story of Donnie Darko, a teenage boy who has mysterious visions of a man dressed as a rabbit, telling him to do certain things which Donnie does in his sleep. The film is one of Jake Gyllenhaal’s first movies and he plays the part of a troubled teen to perfection. 9/10

Review: Playstation 4

I finally got my hands on a PlayStation 4 on launch day! While I was visibly excited just seeing the shiny box it came in, I couldn’t wait to open it up, plug it in and see what it could do. The sheer speed of the set up was fantastic, I was thinking it might take a while for it to set up before I could play a game, but I was wrong, within 10 minutes I was winning in a game of FIFA 14. The machine is powerful yet quiet, you could hear a pin drop, is how quiet this machine is, it is also very small and light compared to the launch edition of the PS3 I had. It is also a nice thing to look at (as far as consoles go), the two tone black colour is a nice touch and the slanted design makes it imposing within my bedroom. I am still waiting for one more game to come in the post, but so far I am not disappointed! 10/10
